Top 10 Public Golf Courses in Florida for the Money

A practical Florida value-golf shortlist with visitor rates, course overviews, seasonal savings and two clearly marked nine-hole options.

A good-value golf course gives you a reason to come back without turning every round into a vacation expense. For golfers trying to break 90, that can mean a distinctive layout, affordable walking or enough room in the budget to play again next week.

This is our research-based editorial shortlist, chosen for public access, course character and useful visitor pricing. It is not an official statewide ranking or a claim of firsthand inspection. We count Sandridge’s two different layouts separately and include two nine-hole courses, clearly labeled below. Value also depends on where you are staying: a long drive can erase a green-fee saving.

Rates checked October 15, 2026. Prices are USD per player, using public/nonresident rates without a paid discount card. They are not guaranteed booking quotes. Cart and tax treatment is stated where the official source specifies it; otherwise confirm the final total. Twilight prices do not guarantee time to finish 18 holes.

For a trip where price is secondary, see our top 10 Florida public-access courses.

1. Sandridge Golf Club — Dunes Course

Vero Beach · 18 holes · Best for an affordable course with distinctive terrain

Ron Garl’s Dunes runs across rolling ground and a former mining ridge. It makes an appealing starting point for a value trip because you get an individual course identity rather than choosing only on the cheapest available tee time.

Visitor price: $35 with a shared cart during October 1–31, 2026, or $30 walking. Later seasonal rates are explained below.

Break 90 tip: Use the terrain to choose landing areas. Play to a comfortable approach distance instead of automatically reaching for driver.

2. Sandridge Golf Club — Lakes Course

Vero Beach · 18 holes · Best for a second round at the same value destination

The Lakes gives Sandridge a different test, with water throughout the routing and an island green at the par-4 14th. Golfers planning two days can experience both layouts without changing their base.

Visitor price: The same $35 October shared-cart rate or $30 walking applies.

Break 90 tip: Plan the 14th backward from a safe approach. Leaving your favorite full-shot distance can be more useful than gaining a few yards off the tee.

Sandridge seasonal prices

For both courses, non-cardholder 18-hole riding rates increase to $60 November 1–December 24, 2026, then $75 December 26, 2026–April 30, 2027. Corresponding walking rates are $34 and $45. Confirm tax treatment and holiday availability. The October bargain should not be mistaken for a year-round price.

3. Mangrove Bay Golf Course

St. Petersburg · 18 holes · Best for a straightforward municipal golf day

Mangrove Bay is a par-72 municipal course with a driving range and short-game practice facilities. Its appeal for this list is the combination of a full-length round and a clear public fee structure, with no resident card needed for the quoted rate.

Visitor price: Through October 31, 2026, the published green fee is $34, with an electric cart $12 per player: $46 before 7% sales tax. Walking avoids the cart charge. Check the next seasonal schedule for November onward.

Break 90 tip: Budget time for a brief putting and chipping warm-up. A modestly priced round is a good opportunity to practice a repeatable pre-round routine.

4. Winter Park Pines Golf Club — WP18

Winter Park · 18 holes · Best for a full round near Orlando

The City of Winter Park operates WP18 as its full 18-hole alternative to the downtown nine-hole course. It belongs on an Orlando-area value itinerary when you want a full round with published nonresident rates instead of relying on a limited promotional offer.

Visitor price: October 1–April 30: $55 Monday–Thursday or $60 Friday–Sunday and holidays, with a cart included. The summer schedule lists $45/$55 for the corresponding day groups.

Break 90 tip: Pick one scoring goal before the round—such as no penalty strokes or no three-putts—and track it alongside your total.

Booking note: The city lists scheduled maintenance on October 19, 2026. Ask about play and recovery conditions around that date.

5. St. Johns Golf Club

Elkton · 18 holes · Best for architecture interest on a municipal budget

St. Johns features angular bunkering and greens inspired by classic architectural ideas, including Redan, Biarritz and punchbowl forms. Large fairways provide options, while greens beside water demand sensible targets. It offers an interesting reason to venture beyond the more expensive Northeast Florida resort venues.

Visitor price: The official page currently labels its schedule 2027 and lists out-of-state 18-hole rates of $73.50 with a shared cart, falling to $42.50 in the afternoon, including tax. Its afternoon cutoff is listed as 2 p.m. in the longer-day schedule and 1 p.m. in the shorter-day schedule. Because the page mixes a 2027 rate label with 2026 hours, confirm the effective rate and cutoff directly before booking.

Break 90 tip: Learn what a green’s slopes are asking you to do. A safe miss on the correct side is often more useful than firing directly at the flag.

6. Winter Park Golf Course — WP9

Winter Park · Nine holes · Best for a smaller spend and a shorter outing

WP9 is the city’s nine-hole option, separate from Winter Park Pines. It makes this list for golfers who would rather fit in a compact round than pay for 18 holes they cannot finish. Compare its price with other nine-hole outings, not with the full rounds above.

Visitor price: October 1–April 30: $33 Monday–Thursday or $40 Friday–Sunday and holidays for nine holes. An electric cart adds $14 per person for adults, with a separate senior rate. The summer nonresident green fees are $28/$34.

Break 90 tip: Treat the nine as a focused scoring session: record penalty shots, chips and putts, then choose one thing to work on before returning.

7. Greynolds Golf Course

North Miami Beach · Nine holes · Best for low-cost repeat play

Greynolds is a par-36, nine-hole Mark Mahannah design measuring about 3,100 yards. It offers conventional golf holes in a shorter format, rather than an all-par-3 layout.

Visitor price: The schedule effective October 15, 2026 lists $38 riding or $29 walking Monday–Friday and $43 riding or $34 walking on weekends and holidays, plus sales tax. The weekday fee explicitly includes unlimited play for the day; confirm how replay access works and whether space is available. Do not assume that wording applies to weekends.

Break 90 tip: If you can play the nine again, change one decision on each hole and compare the results. Repetition can teach you more about strategy than continually visiting unfamiliar courses.

8. Palmetto Golf Course

Miami · 18 holes · Best for a weekday South Florida deal

Palmetto’s par-70 layout occupies 121 acres beside US-1. The value here depends heavily on the day you choose, making it a sensible option for travelers with flexible weekday plans.

Visitor price: The published public fee is $52 with a cart all day Monday and Tuesday, compared with $75 Wednesday–Friday and $89 on weekends and holidays. Confirm taxes and any holiday exceptions at checkout.

Break 90 tip: Spend the weekday saving on another round rather than adding pressure to this one. Build a plan around keeping the tee ball in play and accepting bogey when a hole turns difficult.

9. Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne

Key Biscayne · 18 holes · Best for a scenic splurge at the right time

Crandon costs more than most courses here, but its mangroves, saltwater lakes and barrier-island setting give it a reason to be considered for the money. This is the choice for someone seeking a memorable coastal round, rather than the lowest possible green fee.

Visitor price: The official Monday special is $120 riding or walking. Compare that with the $179 Friday–Sunday/holiday riding rate. Afternoon and twilight options exist, but check daylight and the final total before treating them as equivalent to a full morning round.

Break 90 tip: Keep water out of play with conservative targets. Paying for the scenery does not mean you need to take on every hazard.

10. Ocala Golf Club

Ocala · 18 holes · Best for comparing direct-booking offers

Ocala combines a city golf setting with a practice facility and Toptracer range technology. It rounds out our shortlist as a Central Florida option to compare when your plans take you through the area.

Visitor price: Check the live official booking engine. The club says its lowest rates are shown online and provides a separate Rates tab for walk-up and person-to-person reservations. It does not expose a dependable flat price in the public page text, so we are not attaching an unverified dollar figure. Choose it for value only after comparing the final quote with nearby alternatives.

Break 90 tip: Book a comfortable tee time rather than squeezing in a rushed bargain. A warm-up and enough daylight can be worth more than a small discount.

Compare the complete price: green fee, cart, tax, booking charges and travel. Ask about aeration, temporary greens, rain checks and cancellation rules. Resident and patron discounts can be worthwhile for frequent players, but our quoted prices do not assume you qualify.

For an affordable full round in October, start by comparing Sandridge and Mangrove Bay. For a short outing, compare WP9 and Greynolds. If a special occasion matters more than the price, use our Florida no-budget-limit course shortlist to plan the next trip.
